What is a home inspection?
Purchasing a home is the single largest investment most people will ever make. A home inspection is an important part of that process. A home inspection is an opportunity for the prospective buyer to gain an in-depth knowledge about the condition of the property they intend to buy.
During a home inspection, the home inspector will inspect all major systems in your home: electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, roof, foundation, etc. Any discrepancies will be noted on a report, which the prospective home buyer will receive once the inspection is finished. Major discrepancies, such as an active leak in the roof, will be noted as something that should be fixed immediately. Minor discrepancies, such as electrical wiring that is old, or deck boards that are becoming loose, will be noted as something that should be monitored and fixed in the future.
A home inspection gives the prospective homebuyer an extra level of security knowing that what they are purchasing is in good working order and is safe to live in. A home inspection also gives you, the prospective home buyer, an opportunity to view the home in a deeper way. All accessible spaces, including attic spaces, crawl spaces, and basements will be inspected, allowing you to gain awareness of the condition of your prospective new home.
